On Friday, October 20th, Breakthru Events hosted the first MBM event of the year. The event was a White Lies party, where guests wore white shirts and wrote a small lie about themselves on them. Walking into the event, you were met with good music from the DJ Alex Di Santo, who played a lot of fun, well-known music from throwbacks to newer hits. The lighting as you walked in, the lighting was dim and colourful; using Gobo lighting on the floors improved the experience and attracted people to the floor, creating an overall positive atmosphere.

The venue space was large; however, the attendance was lower than expected, which can perhaps be attributed to the event being held at the beginning of reading week, and many people were going home. The guests that were able to attend enjoyed their night, spending time with friends, taking pictures at the photo booth, and dancing the night away. The photo booth was against a wall in the back corner of the club; it had colourful streamers to stand in front of, and Breakthru supplied guests with fun glasses to wear for pictures. There was an attempt to bring everyone together and start a dance circle, however, few people participated the ones who did were able to bring more entertainment to the event.

A couple of the White Lies party guests had this to say about the event: “I had so much fun dancing with my friends from class. The DJ was amazing!” - Ava Beatty and “It was a really great event, everything was planned very well, and it was a great bonding moment for MBM students.” - Kim Shiwgobin. Overall, many people seemed to have enjoyed the event and are excited for what’s coming next from Breakthru Events.
