On the cold evening of the 30 th of November, Durham College Music Business students and friends gathered in a cozy corner of Oshawa at The Copper Branch vegan café to share their sonic stories and love for music. With the warm aroma of freshly brewed coffee and anticipation to hear wonderful artists and musicians,The Copper Branch provided a unique, intimate setting merging the worlds of music and sustainability in a harmonious blend.

The event unfolded as a celebration of diversity in both musical genres and culinary choices. Collaborating with the boutique vegan café, Breakthru Events offered attendees a delectable assortment of snacks, wine, and craft beer, while they watched the engaging performances. From indie folk melodies to soulful jazz expressions and rhythmic hip hop performances, accompanied by the amazement of the audience with gentle clinking of glasses, the evening was one to remember. The event brought students closer together in pursuing a career in the magical phenomenon that is music.

Throughout the evening, we saw incredible performances by Jaspreet, Emily Hott, Matt Rafael, Jayden Garner, Alex Garner, Sid, Mel, Ian Crawford, Austin Duffy, David Neale, RCN, Israël, Alan and Mona, Ashcoustics, Santi, and the event organiser herself, Eyrica. The event highlighted the symbiotic relationship between musical expression and the business aspects of the industry, providing networking opportunities within the program itself and musicians in the area. It was a night of inspiration and tasty treats reminding us that the music industry is more than the commercial monster we learn about; it is also the dedication to promoting artistic expression, connection, and the cultivating of dreams.

A big shoutout goes to the Breakthru Events enterprise for organising such a memorable night. Here’s to many more across the city. You can contact Breakthru Events Stay through their Instagram @breakthruevents and email breakthru.events@gmail.com if you have any questions.
