Flashback’s ‘5 Tips and Tricks’ series is moving onto our next enterprise in the Music Business Management program. Emerging Productions’ John Morgan has shared his five tips and tricks of being a producer in Emerging Productions:
“1. Master your tools: Become a master of the tools you use for music production, whether it’s a DAW, a synth, or a mixing console. The more familiar you are with your devices, the more efficiently and creatively you can use them.
2. Be organized: Organization is the key to being a successful music producer. Create a system for managing your files and tracks and keep your workspace clean and clutter-free.
3. Collaborate as much as possible: Collaborating with other producers, songwriters, vocalists, and musicians can bring new perspectives and ideas to your music production process. It also helps build your network and expand your opportunities.
4. Experiment with different genres: Don’t limit yourself to producing just one genre of music. Experiment with different styles and genres to expand your creativity and discover new sounds and techniques.
5. Enjoy the process: Remember to enjoy the music production process. It can be a challenging and rewarding journey. Believing in yourself is important, knowing that you have something unique and valuable to offer the world of music. Stay focused and determined as you develop your career as a producer.”
