At 20 years old, Keandra Cardinal is an emerging singer/songwriter from HighCut Records. Keandra describes herself as an experimental R&B and pop artist. She is aiming to break away from the current music scene by creating music that is more honest and in-tune with the feelings of the listener. She is heavily influenced by artists such as Alicia Keys, and local Oshawa-raised artist, Daniel Cesar. “I admire him as an independent artist,” she says, “Daniel Cesar is a big inspiration of mine in terms of artists who do most of their work themselves.”

Keandra stays motivated with her go-getter personality. She aims to create music that is more experimental, while staying close to home with her roots of R&B and pop genres. “I wouldn’t say that I’m one thing; I like to be experimental with my music. I like to try and do everything.” As a songwriter, Keandra prefers to write from personal experience and releases her emotions through her music. She often relates to “sad-girl music” and reveals that the lyrics are more honest, more meaningful, and more down-to-earth.

“Music is the language of the soul,” she says. “As a listener, I like to feel the music, and as an artist, I want to make music that feels.”

Keandra continues to flourish as a singer/songwriter by working extensively on her own material. By working with HighCut Records, she is ensured that the progression of her career is seen and heard.
