Emerging Productions Producers are Emerging...

Luc Jean Baptiste is an all-around down-to-earth producer, emerging through Emerging Productions. He has been working as a producer since the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, after brainstorming ideas to make music and work in the music business while staying isolated.

Luc works with FL Studio. He began his production journey after watching YouTube tutorials about music production and audio engineering. Luc learned most of his practices by watching Nick Mira, the producer behind Juice Wrld, XXXTentacion, and Lil Tecca, following his techniques and developing his own ear for sound. “Making beats from scratch always seemed very interesting to me,” Luc stated.

Luc said that he enjoyed producing “hip-hop, rap, and occasionally R&B.” He likes making people move and being the base of the hype. “I would have loved to produce Kayne West’s 808s and Heartbreak; That would have been a dream. I know he’s cancelled and his views are not progressive, but his music speaks volumes.” Luc stated that the album was very inspiring to his love of music, though 808s and Heartbreak was considered an experimental album through its use of autotune. “I believe every artist has their own voice. Obviously, if the artist has a naturally good, raw sounding voice, very little autotune is needed. If the artist is out of pitch on one note, that can be fixed quite quickly with autotune, and it makes it hardly noticeable when the final mix is complete. But if you record an artist that doesn’t have a very good voice... lots and lots of autotune, respectfully.”

By networking with other artists and producers online, Luc has expanded his network nationally and internationally. Outside of his academics, Luc has worked with The Big I and BbyKartier, producing their music, which can be found on most streaming platforms including Spotify. “The Big I is an artist from the U.S.; he’s super fun to work with. We worked online through Discord during the midst of the pandemic, and we were able to release ‘Full Throttle’ at the beginning of 2022.” Through his work with Emerging Productions, Luc has been working with fellow producer Austin Duffy. “The team at Emerging Productions makes it a fun experience. I love working with amazing, talented individuals... It makes the academic side way more fun.”

The highlights of Luc Jean Baptiste’s work can be found through his Instagram (theyallluv.luc). Furthermore, the musical works that feature Luc as a producer can be found on Spotify and most digital music platforms.
