On Monday, October 28, 2024, Breakthru Events held the first event of the year  “Break-Thru the Looking Glass.” The event was held at 2200 North Bar and  the night was filled with games and great musical performances.

To start the night, Breakthru presented the guests with a “bingo” game where each person got a card with different phrases written in each box and you had to walk around the room and find people that matched those descriptions. The game was a fun way to break the ice between the first and second years in the program and get to know each other a little bit better. Next, there was a game of guess the song, where they would play a song and the first person to guess correctly earned a point; this game was dominated by Henry and Anna who were both able to guess the songs within seconds.

This event had three amazing performances from Jordin’s ID, Adrianna Hopman, and Deborah Mossa. All three acts were unique and very talented. The audience was very receptive to their performances, and everyone appeared to enjoy the performances we had. Jordin’s ID gave the crowd an alternative folk set, while Adrianna Hopman played some amazing country covers, Deborah Mossa, the final performer of the evening, also played some great songs and invited another first year on stage with her while they covered a Fleetwood Mac song together.

Breakthru wrapped up the evening with a costume contest giving the students that dressed up the opportunity to show off their costumes. Overall, everyone who attended enjoyed the evening and despite a couple of minor hiccups the event was a success and the whole program is excited to see what Breakthru has in store for us for the remainder of the year.
